Grace's Big Day!!!

Joy was super awesome and took Grace on the kindergarten field trip that she was helping chaperone on Wednesday so I could teach dance. The school kids were going to the Santa Ana Zoo. Lots of parents drove up in their own cars to save money on buses. Joy just took Grace along in her car. Grace loved seeing all the animals and asked me if she would get to see Diego too (since he rescues animals he should be there right?). They also enjoyed a little picnic on the grass and headed home. When Joy got back to the school to pick up Ian off the bus, she needed to drop off a lunch for Sean. Literally 15 steps from the curb, she left Grace in the car and dropped the lunch into the box. When she returned to the car she found it locked with Grace inside! Luckily it was a cool day and the car was on, so Grace was fine and didn't know any better. Joy was mortified, but honestly I would have done the same thing, and have, when dropping off a lunch or a forgotten instrument! She flagged down Heather Swanson, they called me, AAA and the principal came out to make sure everything was okay. I think Grace just figured we were visiting (having me for a mom she is used to that) and was fine until about the last 5 minutes when she decided she had had enough and wanted to get out of the car. It took AAA a while to get there since our new school is in the middle of a field and not on many maps yet. After she was sprung and had hugs from all of us, I followed Joy to the gas station to make sure she didn't run out of gas after all this- can you imagine having to call AAA again after driving 3 streets away?! By then it was almost time to pick up the older kids from school, so we headed back. The afternoon was filled with YAT, Activity Days, a play date, Justin umpiring baseball, Brownies, homework and more. Just before one of my multiple trips as a taxi driver, I went looking for Grace and couldn't find her. As I walked to the back sliding door to see if she had gone outside to jump on the trampoline (her favorite thing in the world), I found this....
She had climbed under the table to get her balloon, but it would take too much energy to climb back out apparently! Luckily, Amber was home and could stay with her as I headed out to drop off the next kid somewhere. What a big, busy day!
