The Rest of Summer Sum Up
Amber and I were in "Oklahoma"at MTV during the summer and had so much fun performing. Neither of us had huge parts, but it was just fun to be with all our theater friends and get to sing an dance to Rogers and Hammerstein's great score. Here is Amber with Jamie Dana as Laurie.
Marin spent hours and hours looking up hair styles on the web and watching tutorials. This is one of the MANY hairs dos she did this summer. Each one was better than the next!
The Irvine Singers were invited to perform the national anthem at the OC Fair! It was fun to see the "backstage" stuff and even more fun to get free tickets to get in for the day! I came back later with Marin, Ben, Grace and Karly and we had a blast! Rides, food, exploring, pig races, food eating contests and more!
One day for fun we met the cousins at the LA Zoo. I am not sure how much we actually looked at the animals. We were all really more interested in talking to each other!
Part of my summer (and originally Amber's, but then she had to back out and Marin took her spot) was spent being the "producer" for a Stake production of "The Ten Virgins". Katie Luther and Linda Simmons directed it. It was an amazing production. We opened up the first evening to the Irvine Interfaith Womens groups and the Stake RS served dinner as well. We were overflowing with people and had to add more chairs. The food was like the loaves and fishes- somehow everyone got fed but it was truly a miracle! The second night did not have a dinner and we invited all the men as well. Both evenings were truly spiritual feasts. I am so blessed to have had so much help in pulling this off! The first night about 1/3- 1/2 of the audience weren't LDS, and they loved it because the Spirit was so strong.
For the first time, the kids also got to do Hero Camp. A fun summer camp that Stephanie Ainsworth and others came up with for the Mormon kids since so many of of their friends go to vacation Bible school each summer. They have been doing it for years, but we are always out of town when it happens! Grace and Ben were still young enough to attend. I was a Secret Agent one day that introduced a bunch of stuff and helped with some of our secret agent activities. Grace thought it was the best week ever!
