Last Day of School- June 23, 2010
Marin and her AWESOME 3rd grade teacher- Mr. McNatt Marin did great in 3rd grade. She has grown up so much and has become very responsible and independent with her school work. She even has started reading for fun! Something I thought would never happen. Mr. McNatt had a special way of making everything fun and interesting. He constantly challenged his class to think bigger and to go a step further in their problem solving. Marin LOVED 3rd grade and adored her teacher.
Ben and our favorite 1st grade teacher- Mrs. Garner. Ben has grown a foot taller I think this year. He is getting so tall! He started the year barely at a a 1st grade reading level and worked so hard that he moved up 4 levels!!! He reads so well and even reads chapter books. Mrs. Garner was also Marin's 1st grade teacher and we loved her then- we love her even more now! It is amazing to watch her teach. She is so calm and can get a whole excited class of 1st graders quiet in seconds without ever raising her voice. She totally gets Ben and his funny sense of humor. What a great year. I hope Grace gets her in a few years.
Amber graduated from middle school! Not that we didn't think she would, but how did time fly so quickly? She was the student body rep for her homeroom this year and was honored by her choir teacher with a special award at the end of the year. She participated in the district Honor Choir (you have to audition) for two years, and was very active in YAT (a group that does community service each week). What a fast and fun 2 years.
With Best friend Kai Logue- they are dancing to celebrate moving onto high school!
Amber and Mr. Linville- an awesome teacher and the advisor for student council.
Justin had a promotion ceremony as well. Papa was nice enough to sit through Amber's and Justin's in the same morning!
Justin with Mr. Mai and Miss Hager. Miss Hager was new to our school this year and we love her! She has truly prepared Justin for middle school. He had a great 6th grade year as Student Body President. He loved Outdoor Ed (6th grade science camp), made it to the district for his science fair project and made the gold honor roll (straight As).
He spoke briefly at the promotion ceremony to introduce people and then to present our principal, Mr. Terry, with the sixth grade gift for the school. Afterwards, Mr. Terry told me Justin was presidential material- not just 6th grade pres, but United States pres. He said, "From his handshake, to his stature and the way he speaks at the podium..." I said I'd keep grooming him and when he wins we will be sure to thank Mr. Terry :).
I truly can't believe another year has gone by so quickly. It feels like the whole thing was on fast forward. Next school year I will have one in high school, one in middle school, one upper grader and one lower grader. That makes me tired just thinking about it, so we won't! Instead we will just enjoy summer!!!
