Huntington Library
I thought I had already blogged about this fun day, but looking back through my entries- I realized I had not yet written anything. So here goes-

One sunny day in August we drove way up to the Huntington Library and Gardens. We met up there with a 9 month pregnant Aunt Laura, Zoey, Aunt Jill and Raelynn. It was hot, but super fun. The kids were not excited to be going to gardens to walk around, but we ended up having a great time together. Amber, Justin and Marin took turns taking pictures of the cool surroundings. We headed for the desert gardens first. I seriously had no idea that there were that many different kind of cactus plants and that we could be fascinated with them for over an hour!

Our next stop was the lily pond. Much shadier with lots to see in the pond- plants, flowers, birds, fish and even turtles. It was very fun to explore.

Zoey with her endless energy!
Justin relaxing after a picnic lunch- really he was smashing Amber's face while she was trying to relax!
After our picnic we headed to the statue gardens and Amber tried to name all the Greek and Roman gods represented. The Huntington's original home is in that area too- just from the outside- wow!
Next we stopped to play in the Children's Garden. It was super cool with fountains, tunnels, magnetic sand and more. The only down side was that it was really hot!
The rainbow tunnel

Cooling off on the fountain? We finished off by going to the Chinese gardens which are amazing, but we were tired and ready to head home so we didn't stay there too long. Amber, Marin and I rushed ahead of the group in order to breeze through the museum. We saw some amazing things from British and US history and wished we had more time to explore and examine. Maybe another time. A quick stop for Slurpees from 7-11 on the way home and we made it in time for the boys to go to football practice. What a fun day seeing something we had never seen before!
