Savior of the World
Many of you know that Amber, Marin and I are in a play at church called Savior of the World. The first act is the story of Christ's birth and the second act is the story of His resurrection- Christmas and Easter. So we just finished our first run-thru of Act 1 today. We are angels and get to sit up above the audience and watch what is happening "on earth". We don't speak, but we sing with the main characters and of course when the Christ child is born.
As I was watching today, I thought about things I never had before. For example, Mary was a few months pregnant before Joseph married her. When she was to deliver the baby it woudl n't have been 9 months yet! People in Nazareth may have talked, or guessed that she was with child before the wedding- an act that would require her being stoned to death. But she didn't deliver in Nazareth- she and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem to pay taxes. I have always looked on that trip as a hard, horrible thing- at least 6 long days walking and riding a mule in the dirt and on rough roads at 9 months pregnant. Having to deliver a baby without any friends or family around, etc. Today I realized it was a blessing. People in Nazareth may not have recieved the news for weeks after and no one would think twice about her going into labor "early" after such a long, hard trip. God protected his Son, and Mary and Joseph. It made me wonder how often do I see things as a hard ship (i.e. traveling to Bethlehem) when in reality what may seem hard is for my protection or is a blessing from the Lord...
It was just a run-thru- and the first time off script for the lead actors- so it was in no way smooth or perfect, but the Spirit was so strong in the room. I was teary more than a few times, especially when my Dad (the angel Gabriel) came and spoke to Zacharias and Mary announcing the births of John the baptist and Jesus. What an incredible thing to be part of this show. I have been stressed about schedules and what to do with Grace, etc. but as I watched today, I was filled with such a feeling of peace. I wouldn't want to miss this for the world.

Very cool. What a profound thought. I've never thought of it that way before!
Can't wait.
