My First (hopefully last) visit to the ER

Friday morning Grace came into the kitchen and said, "I put two beads in my nose." GREAT! I checked with a flashlight and could see a small blue bead in her nostril. After trying unsuccessfully to remove it with tweezers, I packed her up and took her to the doctor. The doctor tried twice and couldn't remove it either, so we headed to the ER. These pics are at the doctor's office- I forgot my camera in the car at the hospital. She could breathe fine and didn't seem bothered by it at all as you can see, but we needed to get it out nevertheless.

Lucky for us the ER at St. Joseph's in Orange has a special kids side that opens at 11 am. We arrived at 10:55 am, and became the first in line! We didn't have to wait more than 10- 15 minutes before they called us in. The most traumatic part was that Grace had to be pinned down in order for them to remove the bead. I won't go into all the details of the instrument they used, but it took all of 30 seconds. She has been sufficiently lectured about putting things in her nose- I hope she remembers what we all said.

Our doctor thought it was good that I was laughing about it all and taking pictures. Hey, she wasn't hurt and could breathe so of course I was taking pictures for the blog! Well, I was laughing until I had to pay my $100 co-pay! I have to admit I was getting a little prideful about having never been to an ER and having 5 kids! 14 years without a visit is a pretty good record, but alas, it has now been broken. I'm just glad it was only a small, blue bead!

good thing it wasn't serious. Maybe Grace got the idea from Uncle Adam????

Brooklyn has done that twice. Luckily we were able to tell her to blow and that got it down far enough for me to kind of massage it out of her nose. Why is that so fun for kids? I will never understand.

Aaaaaaahhhhh a bead up the nose is NOTHIN' compared to what we've had to go to the E.R. for!!!! That is barely considered and E.R. visit, considering you didn't even have to wait!!!!!!!!! Hahahaha. Just kidding. I'm glad it wasn't more serious and no matter what the circumstance, an E.R. visit is never fun!!!! Give that cute girl kisses from Auntie JuJu and a love from Reecey!
