Forced to Sit

I have been CRAZY busy the last few weeks. I co-chaired the school talent show and organized Guy's Stuff (the 5th grade boys puberty talk night with their dads). Ben and Justin are playing baseball. Amber has basketball. Marin has dance and Brownies. We've been to games, practices, International Day, honor choir rehearsals and a fabulous concert, a choir festival, field trips, young women's activities, scouts, a camp out and birthday parties. I am teaching 4 dance classes, choreographing a musical and choreographing for the schools (soon 3 of them at once). On top of all that I was brain dead and volunteered to chaperon the middle school dance tomorrow after school. Maybe I can embarrass Amber while I'm there :)

With all that to do I am actually being forced to sit and wait. Janet noticed a leak under her kitchen sink just before she left last time and I am now here at her house with the plumber. He has been working for 2 hours and doesn't show signs of stopping. I should be annoyed or something, but it is actually nice to have to sit and wait. I couldn't totally not do anything so I choreographed a number and then found the laptop so I could feel like I was accomplishing something useful. To some that might seem like I can't slow down- but that is slow for me lately and it feels good! Thanks to the plumber I guess!

On another note- I mentioned the honors concert above. Tuesday I did one of the neatest things I have done in a long time. I attended the Irvine Unified School District's Honors Concert. Amber auditioned and was selected to be part of the middle school honor choir. She has been rehearsing every Tuesday for the last month and a 1/2. This week a concert was held for the choirs and orchestras for each level- elementary, middle and high school- at the beautiful new Segerstrom Concert Hall at the Performing Arts Center. I was entertained, overwhelmed and in awe for 2 hours. The talent of these young students was amazing! I am ordering a cd and will actually download some of the numbers onto my ipod. I couldn't believe how good each group was. I am so grateful that we live in a place where art and music are still considered an essential part of a good education. It is so important for children to learn music, notes, drawing, painting, etc. School districts all around us are cutting all the arts because of the disastrous state budget. Thanks to IPSF, Irvine Co, and private donations our children still get the benefits of fine art. I wish you could have heard these kids they were amazing!! Props to them and especially to all their teachers who share their talents and love for music!

So weird that I hadn't read this post yet. I have you on my google reader account so when anyone updates I just look there. This one didn't show up on the updates. Anywho, I remember talking to you during the "forced to sit" week and it was so fun. How often do we get to just chit chat in the middle of the day?? Hope you are finding other reasons to sit a little more these days! You deserve a break! PS-if you do a "busted" post, you'll get more comments. Totally worked for me :-)
Love You!
